Training Workshops

The Training Workshops are aimed to the university community, and focused in particular to the young researchers, PhD students, Master students, etc. Coordinated by the Chair of Scientific Culture of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), with the collaboration of Tecnalia, the goal of these workshops is to provide young researchers with tools for communication and valorization of their research work. We want to train scientists who can disclose and adequately convey their research to society.

There are programmed three different workshops, each focused on a particular topic of interest:

	Training Workshops
	>> Workshop I: PRESENTATION Scientific presentation skills Speaker: Gonzalo ÁLVAREZ, researcher of CSIC and author of El arte de Presentar
	Tips to present your scientific results to the scientific community. This school will deal with improving the oral and writing communication skills of young researchers, specially aimed at PhD students or Master students. Learning how to give a good presentation, write a readable scientific paper, etc. are an important part of a researcher's training.
	>> Workshop II: POPULARIZATION How to communicate science to general public Speakers: José Ignacio LATORRE, Professor at the UAB and Cesar TOMÉ, science popularizer and Mapping Ignorance blog editor.
	Scientists are increasingly aware of the importance to communicate their work to general public, and society more and more demands scientists to be able to explain in lay terms what they do. This course will present different strategies to do good science divulgation, and it is addressed to all researcher community.
	>> Workshop III: VALORIZATION Valorization of the research and entrepreneurship strategies Speaker: Asier RUFINO, Tecnalia Ventures
	Useful to all researchers, this school will cover different topics, such as, knowledge transfer, patent registry, steps to create your own start-up company, etc. Nowadays, due to increasing difficulties to get public funding, these points are becoming more and more important.

Number of attendees per workshops will be limited to around 30 people, so they can be practical schools. Researchers willing to attend any of the workshops must register online by filling the corresponding registration form.
